The term they used was “recycled numbers”. They explained that Fender has, but rarely, used the same serial numbers on more than one guitar. We called Fender and they had a very good explanation. This did not make any sense since all the identifying features lead to a 1991 SRV Strat (pot codes, neck date, old Fender Custom Shop Logo). We looked up the serial number on Fender’s website and it came up with an SRV Strat manufactured in the 2000. Furthermore, the release of the SRV Stratocaster in 1992 was only made as a signature series guitar and was not made by the Fender Custom Shop, leading to believe this is probably a prototype model made by the Custom Shop. WEIGHT: 8lbs 5.4ozs (3kg/780g). When we first looked at this guitar, we were surprised that the Fender Custom Shop even made an SRV Stratocaster prior to its unveiling in 1992. This is a very rare 1991 Fender Custom Shop Stevie Ray Vaughn Stratocaster.
